I finally made it to the re-opened San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Yes I realize it's been reopened since last year. The old building made me a bit claustrophobic and I felt like I kept walking into corners. The new building is big and spacious and has much better walking karma. I found myself walking freely and not thinking much at all about the building, which I think is what a public space should do. Note: I'm no architect, i just like being able to look at art without getting lost. I think the Doris and Donald Fisher Collection is amazing and is well displayed in the new space. I once held a contract job in the Gap headquarters (the Fishers are the GAP founders), I took an elevator to a floor I don't think I was supposed to be on and found myself facing an Anselm Kiefer painting. I remember thinking, Is this what i think it is? if so, it probably costs about as much as this whole building.
